About Petunia's Dream
My Story
The story of Petunia’s Dream began in an unexpected way, what started as a simple creative escape from my full-time job as a Delta Airlines Flight Attendant quickly grew into something much deeper. During the uncertainty of COVID, when my career felt at risk and life as we knew it suddenly paused, I found myself needing something that would spark joy, stretch my creativity, and lift me out of the same emotional fog that so many of us were in.
Ironically, I was never a “flower girlie.” Then, one Valentine’s Day, my mother sent me roses with a note encouraging me to arrange them myself, hoping I would discover the love for florals she always had. At the time, flowers only meant celebrations—graduations, recitals, accomplishments. But suddenly, my social feeds became filled with floral designers, bouquet tutorials, and arrangement videos. It felt like the universe was nudging me.

Around that time, a colleague from Howard University began posting about attending “Flower School” in New York, which piqued my interest even more. I asked questions, researched pricing, locations, and decided to take one class in Maryland—just to see how it would feel. One class turned into four, four turned into full-on obsession, and suddenly I had rediscovered a part of myself that I had been missing.
I eventually enrolled in a spring semester at Flower School NY—saved my money, strategically used my vacation days, and commuted weekly between Maryland and New York for seven weeks (because let’s be honest, flower school was not cheap!). And somewhere between early-morning travel, late-night studying, and arranging blooms until my hands hurt, Petunia’s Dream was born.
